Kakamega Homeboyz is boasting of an eight-point lead at the top of the standings as the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League takes a 10-day break after round 23 matches.

Homeboyz leads the log on 49 matches with defending champions Tusker in second place on 41 points.

After losing 2-0 to Bandari the previous weekend to see their lead cut to five points, Homeboyz bounced back to see off a stubborn Ulinzi 1-0 last Thursday at the Thika Sub County Stadium which underlined their title credentials and a healthy eight-point lead.

With 12 matches to go, much is still to come as Homeboyz slowly maintain their march to their first ever title.

Defending champions Tusker will be praying Homeboyz slip up as their 11-match unbeaten run lifts the club out of their ruins.

The brewers started the 2021-2022 season a low before waking up in the mid-season with excellent performance that has seen them win seven of their last 11 matches.

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia continue registering mixed results and are joint third on the log with Nairobi City Stars on 38 points, 11 points behind leaders Homeboyz.

Despite getting back to winning ways by beating Wazito 1-0 at the Narok County Stadium on Saturday, new Coach Andreas Spier has a lot to do to turn K’Ogalo to their usual threat.

Last season’s runners up KCB, Bandari, Posta Rangers, Kariobangi Sharks, Talanta and Kenya Police complete the top ten clubs.

AFC Leopards drew their 10th match of the season after playing out a 1-1 against a mouthy Kenya Police at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

The result left them 11th on the log with 28 points.

At the relegation zone, Mathare United continue holding the tail of the 18-club league with 11 points.

Vihiga Bullets are second last on 15 points as Wazito occupy the relegation playoff position with 20 points.
