No one does it better than Wafula as she wins at Muthaiga course

A strategic approach and better decision making enabled Naomi Wafula secure Kenya Ladies Golf Union season finale at the Muthaiga 36-hole challenge, last Friday.
The challenge was graced top lady golfers. Wafula is an alumni of Pro Rose Naliaka’s Golf Park based Africa Golf Program.
Wafula had (77, 74) 151 for the lowest Gross to beat home girl, Chanelle Wangari by a single stroke. Wangari wound up at (73, 79) 152 Gross.
Being among the new crop of talent making inroads onto the tour circuit, Wafula had a good run and showing at Lagos Open last month.
Agnes Nyakio was third after an identical score of (77, 77) 154 Gross ahead of Mercy Nyanchama, who carded (76,79) 155 Gross with Nancy Wairimu, also from Golf Park, rounding up the top-five on (76, 87) 163 Gross in Division A.
In Division B; Audrey Gachora, after a first-round 98 and a final-round 93 for 191, secured the top spot in Division B, two strokes clear of runner-up, Lucy Njoroge, who finished with (96, 97) 193 Gross.
Youngster Chanelle Wangari jelled well with Mercy Nyanchama to claim Inter-Club Challenge on 77 Gross, while the duo of Lydia Otieno and Veronica Muthiani won in Division B on 98 Gross.
Down in Nakuru, Sajil Shah, Kuljit Sahota and Nyairo Wahu, claimed the bragging rights during Johnnie Walker Series, on a commendable combined best score of 51 stableford points.
At Ruiru Sports Club, Terra Saidimu, playing off handicap 18, emerged tops during Gatundu Golf Day tournament after returning 40 stableford points to beat Men winner Dominic Chege on countback.
Handicap 18, Ngumo Kingori was Men winner second on a score of 39 stableford points.
Meanwhile, South African-based Kenyan youngster Andrew Wahome stunned golf veterans at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa when he clinched the club’s December 2021 Mug Trophy during the December 2021 Mug and Medal tournament.
The 15-year-old carded an excellent 67 nett to claim the A Division title in the day-long event that attracted 91 golfers.
Wahome was also the Best gross winner of the day producing a level par 71 gross.
“I am excited to be the winner. I saw the victory coming after playing an eagle on the tough hole 16 and also got a two club. Anyway, it was a good day,” said Wahome.
Handicap 8 Jimmy King’ori on 70 nett finished second while handicap 10 Vishnu Dhutia, with 74 nett, was third.
Ian Marshall, playing off handicap 15, was the B Division winner on 71 nett while handicap 14 Vishaal Patel was the runner-up on 72 nett. Handicap 13 Aameen Dhanji was third on 75nett.
Handicap 23 Tom Soigwa brought 67 nett to win the C Division.
