Harambee Stars twice came from behind to beat East African neighbours Tanzania 3-2 on Thursday, bagging up their second-ever win at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Simon Msuva and Mbwana Samatta put Taifa Stars in front but Olunga and Johanna Omolo levelled for Kenya before the Kashiwa Reysol striker struck the winner nine minutes from time.

Kenya, who had won only once in 15 previous matches in the competition, have three points from two games in Group C, level with Senegal. Tanzania, yet to get off the mark, became the first team to be eliminated in the 24-team tournament.

In another Group C tie, Algeria beat Senegal 1-0 in at the 30 June Stadium, leaving both countries set to make the last 16.

Even if Kenya lose their final group match against the Lions of Teranga, they will hope to squeeze into the knockout phase as one of the four best third-place teams.

On social media, it was hard to avoid the fact that Kenya vs Tanzania was among the top trends worldwide, with fans from both countries and those following the action from the diaspora channeling their thoughts on the match through their accounts.
