Football: Soka Talent Academy win Under 15 Rausha Kipaji Cup

Soka Talent Academy from Nairobi are the new Under-15 Champions of the second edition of Rausha  Kipaji Cup after beating  Nakuru Academy 1-0 on Sunday.

Isaac Mbici’s last gasp powerful shot goal at the Nakuru Athletic Club ended Nakuru Academy’s resistance.

“The tournament was very competitive. Bringing together such players at this tender age is very important in developing the sport in the country,” said Soka Talent couch Glyde  Aswani. 

In other matches Moi Educational Center thrashed  Angaza Soccer 2-0 to win the under 7 category while Express Sports beat  Ligi Ndogo  2-0 in the Under 9 category. Express Sports also beat Academies League 2-1 to win in the Under 13  Category.

 Dailene Ndegwa  of  Moi Educational Center was the top scorer in the Under 7 category with  12 goals. Keycce  Len of Soka Talent scored six goals to top the  Under 11 category

Moses Okoth of Academies League scored five goals to emerge top scorer in the Under 13 category while  Kelvin Manyasi of Soka  Talent scored seven goals in the Under-15 category.

The tournament, which started on Friday attracted 63 teams from schools and football academies drawn from all over the country.

Dennis Malindi of Kick It Kenya, Dylan Ougo of Express Sports, Wynton Waweru of Tawisha  Jamii Soccer Academy, Erick Otieno of Expresss Sports and Lameck Mugusi of Soka Talent were awarded the best players in the Under-7, 9, 11,13 and 15 grades.

The winners were awarded trophies, medals and certificates of participation

The tournament,  organised by Kick It Kenya,  was started in  2018 with the aim  of creating a  platform for young players to develop their talent .

“In this tournament, we have witnessed great talent and if natured well our country will be a footballing powerhouse,” Kick It Kenya’s Paul Otieno said.
