Homeboyz targeting Enterprise Cup crown

Last year’s Enterprise Cup champions Homeboyz will launch their title defence against Kenya Harlequin in a round two tie at the Jamhuri Showground today.

The pre-quarter final showdown will be a repeat of the 2018 match when the sides met at the same stage of the competition. The Deejays claimed a hard fought 12-11 win on their way to a first ever 15s trophy.

While Homeboyz received a bye to today’s match, Quins were subjected to the first round where they made light work of Ngong Warriors, brushing aside the KRU Championship outfit 80-3.

The match gets underway at 4pm and it will be preceded by the clash pitting Nondescripts against tournament debutants Menengai Oilers.

“It will be an interesting match. We have already faced Nondies in the Kenya Cup and lost. Our target is to get the win and progress to the next round,” Oilers coach Gibson Weru said.

However, Weru said it will not be easy for his charges since they are playing away from home.

“We have been making progress in the past few weeks and we expect to put our best foot forward,” Weru said.

In Nakuru, Western Bulls will be seeking to carry their KRU Championship form to the Enterprise Cup when they tackle Kenya Cup side Top Fry Nakuru.

Bulls are currently leading the championship race to top flight rugby and Shikanda believes they have what it takes to upset Nakuru.

“We have had a good run in the championship and today is the right time to test ourselves with the big teams from Kenya Cup. The game will be hard but I believe the team can win the games considering our current form,”Shikanda said.

Shikanda’s counter part Mitch Ocholla said they cannot afford to underrate Bulls. 

“Bulls is a good side that has performed well over the years. Despite that, we are ready and we are going for a win at our home ground,” Ocholla said.
