Paul Pogba is winning his battle to be fit for Manchester United's showdown with Tottenham this weekend.

Pogba missed United's 2-0 FA Cup win over Reading last weekend after picking up an injury in the win at Newcastle by the same scoreline.

United's £89million record signing suffered the injury as a result of a brutal challenge from Newcastle's Jonjo Shelvey, a foul that went unpunished.

Pogba needed to undergo extra treatment at United's AON Training Complex and only joined up with caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad in Dubai yesterday for their warm-weather training camp.

Despite his late arrival, Pogba is expected to be fit to face Spurs at Wembley on Sunday, the first real test of Solskjaer's tenure after five wins from five.

Solskjaer said: “Hopefully, we can get Paul on his feet during this week.

“Marcos has gone back home because his injury is taking a bit longer than we thought.

“Fred's partner is expecting a baby and Paul had his knock and has had a few days of treatment back home."
