Kenyans set course records in weekend meets

2017 Krakow Marathon champion Cosmas Mutuku Kyeva shattered the course record at the PKO Poznan Marathon IAAF Bronze Label road race on Sunday.

With a PB of 2:09:57 from Debno in Poland, Kyeva crossed the line 2:11:45.

By the 30km mark, the pack had been separated and Kyeeva led a team of four which included fellow Kenyan Silas Sang and Ethiopian duo Abayneh Endale and Getachew Tufa.

Ethiopia’s Endale denied Sang the silver medal clocking 2:11:51. Sang was third.

In the women’s category, Ethiopians swept the podium led by Tesfanesh Merga who set a PB in 2:32:31, followed closely by Tsgereda Girma and Alemitu Ajema.

In Romania, Hosea Kipkemboi ran an all-comers’ record at the Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest Marathon.

Kipkemboi in his marathon debut crushed the record in 2:11:32 at the IAAF Bronze Label road race.

His compatriot Joel Kimutai was second in 2:11:59 while Ethiopia’s Kaleb Kashebo was third in 2:13:22.
