Harambee Stars striker Masoud Juma

Harambee stars forward Masoud Choka Juma is back in Nairobi and now training with former club Kariobangi sharks.

The bully striker finished top on the scorers’ chat of the Kenya Premier League with 17 goals last season, and later completed a dream move to South African side Cape Town city fc.

“That has always been my dream, to play football at top level. I believe in myself and know my abilities well, if given chance, I will prove it,” said the confident forward who started playing football at Tumaini primary school in Isiolo County.

However last month, the 21 year old terminated his contract with Benny Mcarthy’s side and posted a short Facebook message on his wall that read ‘I have terminated my contract with Cape Town City FC. I’m a free agent,’

“Well I don’t want to discuss more about the details of my contract nor the relationship with my previous coach Benny. But to me playing time is all I needed and an atmosphere that understands me well,” said the also former Bandari fc forward.

While at Cape Town, Masoud played four games and scored one goal. The club’s Media and Public Relations Officer Julian Bailey however defended ‘The blue and gold army’ through a statement that insisted the Kenyan international was still their player and the decision to leave the club entirely was on his own will and personal reasons unknown to them.

Masoud who also turned out for Shabana fc in his formative years has not been so lucky in foreign lands. He has been unlucky with trials at PSL champions BidVest Wits as well as Swedish clubs AIK Fotball and Jonkopings Sodra. He was later linked with a move to Egypt before he was snapped up by the Michel Comitis and John Comitis owned club, Cape Town City in a KSh10 million deal.

The now parent, has also apologized to his fans for turning down the national side Harambee Stars on his recent call up vs Ghana black stars.

“I had to call the federation office and turned down the offer. I wasn’t fit enough and also my wife had a cesarean delivery. At that moment, my family needed me more and I had to be there,”.

Juma now is training with former side Kariobangi sharks as he aims for another move abroad. He is hoping to seal a deal in Europe, but would not disclose more details. Gameyetu sports desk wishes him the best of luck.
