Black Mamba defeated Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) 27-22 to clinch the Kenya Handball Federation national league title with an unbeaten record at the Kaloleni Handball Court over the weekend.

Mamba, who last won the national league in 2012, defeated KDF, who were seeking their fourth consecutive title this season.

The ever-dependable Paul Ondara was the top scorer with 10 goals as he steered Mamba to the title. Teammate Antony Nwayo scored seven goals in the match, while Nicholas Ireri was the top scorer for the military side with five goals.

The Kaloleni-based side took a 15-11 lead at the breather and maintained the assault to the end.

Mamba finished the league on 35 points, two ahead of former champions KDF and three ahead of Strathmore University. National Cereals and Produce Board finished fourth with 31 points.

The league had taken a three-month break and resumed two weeks ago to conclude the remaining matches.
