Manchester United will face competition from Barcelona to sign PSG midfielder Marco Verratti.

Jose Mourinho would love acquire the Italian maestro, though the Blaugrana have now emerged to rival them for the 24-year-old, report Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona would like add the former Pescara midfielder for his tempo-setting passing, though Real Madrid, too, would be interested.

With Paul Pogba struggling to adapt to a deeper role, Mourinho needs a holding midfielder able to dictate the play, given Michael Carrick is now nearing the end of his career.
