KCB Golf heads to Kisumu, 36 pros in contest

The KCB Pro-Am tour third leg teed off today at the par 72 Nyanza Golf Club with a field of 36 professional golfers expected to be on the course in Nyanza.

This will be a four-day Pros only tournament followed by a one day amateur Corporate Golf day on Saturday 13th June 2015. There will be a golf clinic for amateurs on Friday 12th June to hone their skills in golf courtesy of KCB and the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK).

At stake for the pros in this third leg of the 2015 KCB Golf Tour series, will be Sh1 million to be shared by the top 12 pros will make the second round cut in Kisumu. The winner will take home Sh200,000.

Prize money for this year’s series has gone up to Sh1 million per event from last year’s Sh500,000 per event. This brings the total prize money for the pros in the five events to Sh5.7 million.  

The KCB 2015 tour has so far seen the tournament hosted in Royal Nairobi Golf club and Thika Golf club. Dismas Indiza won the Royal Nairobi leg while Pro Golfer Greg Snow won the Thika outing.

“We have put everything in order for the Nyanza tour where 36 professional golfers are expected to play for the next four days. There will be two days of the tour where the pros will be making the cut to the final two days,” said Elisha Kasuku the PGK tournament Director.

KCB Group sponsored the top four Pros of the 2014 KCB Pro-Am tour series to play in the South Africa’s Sunshine tour. The four Pros were Dismas Indiza from Mumias Golf Club, John Wangai from Sigona Golf Club, David Wakhu from Royal Nairobi Golf Club and David Odhiambo from Nyanza Golf Club.

“This is the first time in a long time that all Professional golfers in Kenya will converge in one tournament. We have all the members and this is a record performance by PGK to assemble all of us in one tour,” said PGK Captain John Wangai.
