Kenya Commercial Bank have dismissed claims that Harlequins are weak ahead of their Kenya Cup fixture today at the RFUEA Grounds.

Quins have only won one game this year and are currently ranked eighth in the table with four wins and five losses, whereas KCB are second with an unbeaten run in all their nine fixtures.

Speaking ahead of the tie, KCB coach Curtis Olago, claimed he watched Quins play against Strathmore last weekend, and he is sure they are still a good team that may cause them problems.

“They are pretty bulky from what I have seen, and they seem to be beefing up their squad as the season progresses, so I think we cannot go into this tie thinking that they are an easy team based on a string of results they have had,” he said.

KCB are the only unbeaten side alongside the defending champions Nakuru RFC and they look set to retain the second position and get the home semi-final. Olago, however, has claimed that they are not focused on the home semi-final, but are playing each game as they come.

“For now, our focus is on Quins. We let the future sort itself out, we are concentrating on the present and hope that we can make the best out of it,” he concluded.

KCB will be under pressure to win this game as only one point separates them from the champions who will have an equally tough fixture against Homeboyz RFC at the Railways club. Homeboyz have posted mixed results in the Kenya Cup so far, where they have beaten Harlequins and Strathmore this year, but have lost heavily to KCB.

Paul Murunga’s side have the talent and ability to cause an upset against Nakuru, but that will only occur if they are at their best and Nakuru slip up.

The other fixtures of the day will see Mwamba take on Kabras Sugar, with both teams coming from a defeat last weekend. The two sides are in a neck to neck battle for the fourth place and semi-final slot in the league and the results of this game may have great influence on the final outcome.

Nondies will get a chance to follow up their victory against Kabras, with a victory against Mombasa RFC, whereas Impala can also extend their winning streak if they beat University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine.
