Journalist Dorcus Mlughu of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is the new Rong'e Juu ward MCA-elect after she trounced the immediate former Assembly Majority Leader Harris Keke of ODM who became one of the first casualties in the elections.

Out of 20 members of the Taita-Taveta County assembly (MCAs), only six have retained their seats.

Those who retained their seats include assembly deputy speaker Chrispus Tondoo, (Bomeni Ward, PAA), Saleri Fundi (Mahoo ward, Jubilee) and Jones Solomon ( Ngolia Ward, Wiper).

Others are Anselim Mwadime, (Mwanda Mgange, PAA), Newton Salim (Kishushe-Wumingu, PAA) and Patel Mungambwa (Bura ward, Wipe).

But the race was not smooth for some MCAs as was the case for the former Minority Leader Jones Masukuji of Mboghoni Ward who lost. He contested on the PAA party that is led by the outgoing Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi.

Others who have lost their seats include Jason Tuja formerly of Werugha ward and Kasigau Ward Rep Abraham Juma.

Other ward reps who lost include: Ahmed Omar (Kaloleni, ODM), Stephen Mcharo (Wundanyi, Mbale, Wiper), Paul Waweru Kang'ethe (Marungu, UDA), Godfrey Mwambi (Mbololo, Jubilee), Omar Nguzo (Chala, PAA), Justine Mwamba (Wusii-Kishamba, Jubilee), Abednego Mwanjala (Mwatate, Independent), Frank Kichoi of Chawia ward (PAA) and Chanzu Kamadi (Mata ward, Ford Kenya).

In the just released election results, ODM and PAA have five MCAs each, Wiper party has four, Jubilee two while UDA, Jibebe, PEP and Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) have one each.
