A man was yesterday arraigned in court for defiling his five-year-old daughter in Taita-Taveta County.

The man, however, denied the charge before Wundanyi Resident Magistrate Emiliy Nyakundi, who denied him bail and remanded him in custody until the mention of his case. The court heard that the father intentionally defiled his daughter on Tuesday at Mwachwalo village.

The accused was also charged with indecently touching the minor’s private parts contrary to the Sexual Offences Act.

In the same court, Joseph Matheka was charged with defiling a minor in Mwachabo location. He was granted Sh50,000 cash bail. Cases of child abuse continue to rise in this pandemic season.
