Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reiterated the government is not ready for any handshake with Azimkio's Raila Odinga.

Gachagua said instead, the Azimio leaders should put all their efforts into a Parliamentary process even as both sides gear up for the bipartisan talks.

He noted that President William Ruto and the rest of the executive were busy working for the development of the country.

"We are busy focusing on development projects, and these 'maandamano' guys should talk to Kimani Ichung'wa (Majority leader) and the likes of Gitonga Mukunji (Manyatta MP) for bipartisan talks in parliament," he said.

Speaking in Embu County during an inspection tour of government projects and progress of Madaraka day celebration preparations, Gachagua urged Embu residents to show up in large numbers for the National function.

"The renovation of Moi Stadium is on track and will be completed on time for the Madaraka Day Celebrations," he stated.

After landing at University of Embu grounds, the DP toured Agricultural Show of Kenya (ASK) Njukiri grounds, where a sport city will be built, the Moi Sports Stadium and the Embu Marikiti, where he addressed the traders.

He was accompanied by Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, Embu Senator Alexander Mundigi Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, Runyenjes MP Muchangi Karemba, Mbeere South MP Nebart Muriuki and Governor Cecily Mbarire.

Gachagua noted that traders, who operate in Embu Marikiti market, would be relocated to pave way for the construction of a four storey building ultra-Modern Market.

"The people currently doing business here will be given the first priority after the market is complete," he said.

The DP also said that the President would launch the construction of the Embu modern market, which is set to commence soon.

President Ruto is also expected to do a groundbreaking on June 1, 2023, for the construction of the ultra modern sports city stadium at Njukiri ASK Show.
