Former TSC Secretary Nancy Macharia has rejected an offer by Governor Irungu Kangata's administration to be the Murang'a County Public Service Board chairperson, citing that she has been engaged by the World Bank as a consultant.

Dr Macharia turned down the nomination a day before she, alongside four other nominees, appeared before the Murang’a County Assembly for the vetting process.

Last week,  the county assembly was notified of Governor Kang’ata’s nomination of Macharia to take over a position previously held by Catherine Wanjiku, upon the expiry of her term.

Kang’ata communicated Macharia's decline, on the basis that she had received another engagement for consulting with the World Bank, with the county losing her expertise as a leader who would have mentored other board members..

Other nominees alongside Macharia were Dr Louis Mwende Mwikali, Dr Brian Makamu, Johnson Kang'ethe, and Oscar Kimani. Kimani was to serve as the secretary to the board.

Her nomination had attracted criticisms from a section of residents who had claimed that Kang’ata had done a disservice to the youth who were ready to fill in the post.
