Kenya Prisons Boxing branch should go for their elections, officials of the newly elected Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) have said.

BFK have advised Kenya Prisons Boxing branch to conduct their elections and submit their returns to the Registrar of Sports just like other branches of the federation.

BFK Competitions Secretary John Waweru told the branch to convene and address the matters pertaining elections so that it could allow them take part in the activities of the federation.

"Kenya Prisons is a formidable and special branch just like Kenya Police and Kenya Defence Forces who are our recognised members in the Disciplined Forces whose contribution in sports is immense. This is why we are concerned when they don't take part in our activities.," Waweru said.

Kenya Prisons failed to take part in the BFK elections same to Nakuru County Boxing Association, whose elections aborted two weeks ago.

"Our urge is to have all our stakeholders take part in all our activities in the boxing family for us to grow the standards together from the grassroots to national level," BFK President Anthony 'Jamal' Ombok said.

Kenya Police and KDF featured in the national polls that saw the Ombok led executive sweep the boards in the polls held at Kasarani Stadium. Others were Nairobi, Kisumu, Laikipia and Mombasa County Boxing Associations.

Efforts to get the comments of Kenya Prisons Boxing Club Secretary General Bernard Otoo were fruitless as our phone calls went unanswered.

Yesterday, BFK Competitions Secretary John Waweru said only clubs registered with the Sports Registrar's office will compete in league ties.
