As Kajiado County aims to catch up with the rest of established counties, the county has established the inaugural Kajiado Boxing League that has attracted seven boxing clubs.

The inaugural tournament will be held at Market Place in Upper Matasia on June 17.

And the seven clubs that have confirmed participation in the league are Kajiado, Ongata Talents, Bush House, Ngong, Kiserian, Ngai Muronyo and Lion's Den boxing clubs.

The seven clubs originate from the five Kajiado sub counties namely Kajiado Central, Kajiado North, Kajiado East, Kajiado West and Kajiado South.

Kajiado County Boxing Association Secretary General Michael Ragot said they are determined to leave a mark in the sport in the country.

"We have had a slow start in our tournaments. But as time goes by, we are determined to catch up with the rest of the established counties and possibly beat them," Ragot told Standard Sports.

Most of the boxers who will take part in it have gone through the National Novices and Intermediate Championships and therefore qualified for the senior national championships.

Therefore, Ragot said they will use the tournament to select boxers who will take part in the National Olympic selection trials to be held at Charter Hall, Nairobi from June 29 to July 1.
