Commonwealth super lightweight champion Sarah Achieng is ready for the 10-round title-fight against former World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight champion Matthysse Edith Soledad of Argentina on June 1 in Mombasa.

This will be the first meeting between the two boxers as they battle for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) super lightweight title.

Kenya Professional Boxing Commission president Reuben Ndolo said they were ready to sanction the fight after consultations with the promoter Charles Kinyua.

Achieng' said she is prepared for the fight after undergoing rigorous training sessions under head coach Alfred 'The Priest' Analo. Analo has been coaching the Commonwealth champion for the past 15 years.

Achieng' urged the match organisers not to postpone the fight again.

"For avoidance of doubt, these postponements are affecting me in so many ways. They (postponements) are affecting my training programs and therefore, I need the date fixed with no more postponements," said Achieng.

This will be the second world title lined up for Achieng' this year following the cancellation of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super lightweight fight against Germany's Oshin Derieuw in Belgium on February 4, 2023.

Achieng' failed to travel to Belgium owing to visa problems after she failed to secure it on time for the trip.

Achieng' missed another world fight on June 11, 2022 when she was scheduled to tackle Tunisian-born German Ikram Kerwat for the Women International Boxing Federation (WIBF) super lightweight(63.5kg) title in Cleveland, Ohio in the United States of America.
