Anthony Joshua is "fit and well" at home after fears were raised he may have contracted coronavirus after Prince Charles was confirmed to have been infected.

Joshua met the heir to the throne just over two weeks ago during a Commonwealth Day celebration at which the heavyweight world champion made a moving speech.

The Prince of Wales was revealed to have tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday and is self-isolating in Scotland after showing mild symptoms.

But a spokesperson for Joshua told Mail Online: "AJ is at home following government guidelines, he is fit and well.

"He wishes everyone affected a speedy recovery and a huge thank you to all the front line key workers."

Joshua is due to resume his career against Kubrat Pulev at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20 but that is now unlikely due to the global pandemic.

An alternative date of July 25 has been pencilled in but even that may come too soon.

Promoter Eddie Hearn expects to make a decision next week but is this week expected to postpone his two heavyweight shows in May.

Dillian Whyte is due to take on Alexander Povetkin in Manchester on May 2 while Dereck Chisora and Oleksandr Usyk are due to clash three weeks later in London.

The coronavirus outbreak also looks set to delay Tyson Fury's trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder until October.

The rematch was set to take place on July 18 in Las Vegas but promoter Bob Arum has said that is no longer possible.

As a result, Joshua is unlikely to take on Fury this year in what would have been one of the biggest heavyweight fights in history.
