Ndolo returns to national boxing body, promises cleanup

Reuben Ndolo has made a return to the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) as their new chairman after being elected unopposed.

The exercise which was presided over by Capacity Building Agency Consulting through Brian Weke as the returning officer saw the former Makadara law maker returns to a federation he previously led between1998 – 2001.

Ahmed Yassin triumphant in the vice-chairman position after garnering 47 votes against Charles Juma who managed two votes.  

Hillay Alila, the outgoing chairman opted not to seek reelection with Frankline Imbezi retaining the secretary General position Abdalla kent getting 0 votes. Julius Odhiambo 40 votes to win the assistant secretary general position against Leonard Wanga who collected 9 votes.

Purity Gacheri was elected the federation’s treasurer unopposed as Fredrick Simatwa got 31 votes to floor Lucas Omondi in the vice treasurer position. Other posts went to Francis Olando as the Organizing secretary with Martin Nderia being elected unopposed as the assistant organizing secretary.

Ndolo, also a former Commonwealth Boxing Council president promised to put in place measures to ensure the sport is improved.

“Immediately we start working with my new team, you will see the whole boxing coming to Kenya. I know the pain of being a boxer that’s why I must make sure boxers and promoters’ works together in the coming days and ensure good working relationships between the stakeholders” said Ndolo.  

Alila on his part also blamed the infighting as the main hindrance that affected  the previous office but said he made tremendous progress in the organization.

“There a lot of infighting among the stakeholders that slowed our work, however, at the same time we made some progress in administration structures which will make the incoming office’s work easier” said Alila.

The election was also attended by Sports Registrar representatives Richard Ombeba who urge the new office to formulate the process of registering led by who attended the elections as observers.
