Kenya bagged silver in the women's 3x3 basketball after falling 18-10 to Mali in the final.

The medal saw Kenya finish with five medals in the Africa Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia.

The women put up a stellar fight but it was not enough to beat the West African country.

The new tally is Kenya's improvement from 2019 where the country bagged just three medals.

Skipper Mary Lisa Omondi congratulated the team for the medal bagged but blamed errors in defence for the loss saying moving forward the team had identified areas they needed to make improvements.

Her teammate Margaret Nerea said that the medal means a lot to the team since it is the result of hard work and improvement after facing the team in the group stages.

Team Kenya had to do some minutes in the game without MaryAnne Nyagaki who limped off with an injury.

Her return to the team saw Kenya rally back to reduce the gap to 9-8 before Mali went on a 7-0 scoring run which saw them win the game bagging the gold medal in the competition.
