Equity Hawks and Dumas dominate KBF Premier League action in Kisumu

Equity Bank basketball teams dominated the KBF Premier League matches played on Sunday in Kisumu after whitewashing Lady Bucks and Lakeside respectively at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sports Grounds.

In the opening match, Betty Kananu dropped a game high 30 points to lead Equity Hawks to a blow out 85-38 win over Lady Bucks.

The bankers dominated the game from start to end as Dedee Were led the onslaught in the first quarter with six points and four rebounds as Equity led 20-9. Cynthia Mawero added five points, Maryanne Nyagari four points as Rachael Akinyi and Kananu closed out the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, Kananu exploded with nine points as they ltook the second quarter 19-13 to lead 39-22 at the break.

In the final half, a team effort and squad rotation by Hawks coach David Maina saw the bankers win the third quarter 20-5 before Kananu closed the game with 12 big points in the final quarter they took 26-11 to win overall 85-38.

Lady Bucks captain Juliet Omollo finished with 14 points to lead the hosts who remain bottom.

In the men's game, Equity Dumas survived Lakeside waves to win by a basket 63-61.

In Naiorbi, Zetech Sparks saw off University of Nairobi Dynamites 77-22 as Zetech Titans surrendered to Kenyatta University Pirates 57-40.

Umoja on the other hand were unbowed as they thrashed Terror 73-52.
