Lakeside arrest UoN Terror in Kisumu

Lakeside Basketball Club on Saturday picked their second win of the season after thrashing visiting University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror 78-66 in a highly physical and tempered Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Premier League match staged at Jaramogi Sportsground in Kisumu.

The Kisumu based outfit has been struggling to win matches building up to the match after previously losing 11 of the 12 matches played.

However, led by captain Sila Awuor, Allan Kibira and Moses Musebe, Lakeside blew out Terror 43-19 by halftime before withstanding a fourth quarter comeback attempt form the visitors to win at home for the second time this season.

Charles Anjeho, Musebe and Kibira were unstoppable at the rim as 100 percent layup and free throw conversions saw Lakeside lead 18-7 by the end of the first quarter before a big 25-12 second quarter show gave them a comfortable 24 point lead at the break.

In the third quarter, the visitors woke up from their slumber but Lakeside matched up in a narrow 20-19 win for the visitors before the hosts ralloied up to c;lose the game in the final quarter despite going down 27-16.

Earlier at the same grounds, Lady Bucks two match winning streak was ended by UoN Dynamites who saw off the hosts 60-44.
In Nairobi, Moses Alier dropped 18 points as Umoja edged Zetech Titans 48-41 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
It was their fourth win from 13 games played this season and moved them to 17 points while Zetech trail them with 13 points from 12 matches.

Elsewhere, Storms defeated KU Oryx 45-38 at the same venue.

In Eldoret, home team Eldonets lost 20-69 to Strathmore Swords while Eldonets Platinum also lost 48-60 to Strathmore Blades.
