FIBA Africa Zone Five Club Champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women will be seeking to defend their title when they grace this year's championship set to be played next month in Tanzania.

KPA, who are also the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's Premier League champions thrashed local rivals Equity Bank Hawks 71-35 in the decisive tie to be crowned the 2021 FIBA Africa Zone Club champions.

Hawks and KPA who are the top two women's basketball sides in the country will represent the country at the Zone Five club championship set for September 26 to October 1 in Dar es Salaam.

The finalists will qualify for the final tour of the Cup set for Mozambique between December 9 and 18.

The two Kenyan representatives will hope to bag the two slots having reached the finals last season.

Despite qualifying for the FIBA Africa Women Champions Cup last season, KPA and Equity did not feature after the tournament was cancelled.

Boosted by vital signings, KPA will hope to retain their title next month.

Linda Alando, Jemimah Omondi and Belinda Okoth who have already hit the ground running in the 2022 KBF Premier League helping KPA to the top of the standings with 14 points will be hoping to influence the dockers' dominance in Tanzania too.

On the other hand, Equity Hawks who have roped in experienced Silalei Shani and Linet Atieno from Eagle Wings and Storms respectively will be eyeing a good show.
