The winners (men and women) of the national Red Bull half court 3x3 basketball tournament will represent Kenya in the continental showpiece in Cairo, Egypt later this year.

Kenya 1, Kenya 2, Vikings and Tusks are the men’s teams that were to clash in semifinals of the competition at Nyayo Stadium yesterday.

Elite and Baddies were due to battle in the women’s finals.

The event brought together a total number of 23 teams from Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu counties.

The men’s category attracted 15 teams while eight teams squared off in the women’s category.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) vice chairperson Hilmi Ali who is also the national coordinator of the 3 on 3 basketball tournament said the event has provided opportunities to players from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“We have seen players from different places who have benefited from the tournament, we hope to reach even more through such tournaments,” said Ali.

National women’s basketball team captain said the tournament improves players’ skills.
