Basketball: Maina upbeat as defending champions host KPA in KBF finals

Equity Hawks will renew their rivalry with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the 2021/2022 Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Women’s Premier League finals.

The defending champions will host the dockers in game one of the best of five series finals playoffs set to tip-off on Saturday from 4pm at Nyayo Gymnasium.

Speaking to Standard Sports, Equity head coach David Maina said they are calm; their target is to capitalize on their home advantage at Nyayo in games one and two that they will host today and tomorrow.

“So far so good. We have only lost 1 game in the regular season and I expect the players to push for the final target.”

“Our target is to win the two games in Nairobi. Being a final, it will not be easy but we will go all out. The team is ready for the finals and hopefully, they will put their best foot forward,” said Maina.

The bankers have lost only one single game during the regular season and they will be out to revenge their 71-35 finals defeat to the dockers last year at the Fiba-Africa Zone V Club Championship in Tanzania.

Equity completed a 3-0 sweep over Zetech Sparks to get to the finals.
