Justus Okitoi scored a game high 18 points to inspire Kisumu Lakeside to a narrow 58-53 win over KCA University in an entertaining KBF men’s Premier League match played at Manyatta Arabs in Kisumu on Saturday.

Despite missing the services of their two key players in Trevor Gari and Sila Guya, the hosts came out on top with power forward posting a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Lakeside to victory.

Center Kennedy Okumu followed with 14 points and eight rebounds as shooting guard Dennis Wekesa dropped nine points all from the three-point line.

On the other hand, Greg Chabi led KCA University with 13 points followed by Collins Nyamweya and Kevine Otieno who posted 11 points each.

Lakeside took the opening two quarters 16-6 and 20-14 to lead 36-20 at the break before a second half comeback saw KCA edge the hosts 19-9 in the third quarter.

The university students also took the fourth quarter 14-13 but the damage had already been done in the first half as Lakeside overcame a poor free-throw shooting to register their fifth win of the season, four at home.

In the women’s Premier League, Lady Buck's winless run stretched to five games after losing to University of Nairobi's Dynamites.

Lady Bucks went down 61-53 as the university students registered their seventh win of the campaign.

The defeat leaves the Kisumu based women’s basketball team rooted at the bottom of the table after losing all their five matches played so far.
