United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Tigers and Flames will leave nothing to chance as they seek to boost their chances of surviving the relegation axe in the Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League.

They, however, face an uphill task as they go up against Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) today at Makande Hall, Mombasa.

Tigers and Flames, who are on the wrong ends in both the men and women Premier League standings, will have everything to play for as they seek to retain their places in the top-tier league.

An optimistic USIU-A coach Cliff Owuor said his charges look forward to making their visit to Mombasa count.

“We are optimistic even though we know that they (KPA) will not make it easy for us. We have prepared well and the players are determined to make the matches count, because we must secure points to move up the standings and escape relegation,” Owuor said.

“The ladies (Flames) are stronger now because three of our key players have returned from injury to bolster the playing unit.

“Also, unlike the beginning of the season, our team cohesion is more stable because the girls have played together and gelled well, and I believe they are good enough to challenge KPA,” he added.
