Yego, Sarah Moraa seek Paris mark in Douala

Kenya's contingent to the 23rd edition of the Africa Senior Athletics Championships departs on Wednesday for the biannual event in Douala, Cameroon.

The squad of 60 athletes (26 women and 34 men) will take part in the five-day continental championships that starts on Friday with the hopes of topping the medal table once again.

2016 Olympic silver medallist and former world javelin champion Julius Yego and 800m runner Sarah Moraa will be keen to utilize the championships to meet the qualifications standard having missed it at the Kenyan trials.

2016 Olympic silver medallist Yego needs to throw a distance of 85.50m to qualify for the Olympics.

On the other hand, Moraa be will have the company of Lilian Odira in 800m.

Gladys Kwamboka, the Kenya Police champion will partner with Emmy Jepkemoi in the women's 10,000m.

The corresponding men's team will have debutants national champion Roncer Konga and Joseph Kiptum.

African Games and national 1,500m champion Brian Komen, who is on standby for Olympics in case trials second place finisher Kyumbe Munguti fails to secure qualification standard will carry the national flag alongside experienced Boaz Kiprugut.

Former national champion and 2015 African Games 100m silver medalist Eunice Kadogo, will be heading for her third continental encounter.
