Omanyala comes second again in Paris Diamond League

African and Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala finished second at the Paris Diamond League on Friday after finishing behind World 200m champion Noah Lyles.

Omanyala who went under 10 seconds for the first time since his Diamond League debut last month in Rabat failed to maintain his good run after clocking 9.98 seconds to finish second.

Lyles last gasp dip saw the American emerge first in a photo finish 9.97 seconds.

World Under-20 record holder Botswana's Letsile Tebogo rounded out the podium with 10.05 seconds.

Olympic champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs who has had a difficult start to the season, twice pulling out of 100m showdowns due to a back problem, crossed in seventh place in 10.21 seconds.

Omanyala has had a busy season shining on Africa soil but is to win at the Diamond League.

He finished third in 10.05 seconds at Rabat Diamond League on May 28, losing to world 100m champion Fred Kerley, who won in 9.94.

The duo met againat Florence Diamond League on June 2 where the Kenyan settled second in 10.05, going down to the American world champion, yet again.

However, Omanyala is still the fastest man this year after clocking 9.84 seconds at the Kip Keino Classic last month.
