Athletics Kenya is keen to select a strong team as World U-20 trials start at Nyayo Stadium today ahead of the World Under-20 Championships set for August 2-7 in Cali, Colombia.

Speaking yesterday, AK president Jackson Tuwei assured of strong show to the junior global showpieces.

Only athletes aged 16, 17, 18 or 19 on 31 December 2022 are required to compete.

“A maximum of two athletes from any one member can compete in each event and as a defending champion of the event, we are going to pick a strong team that will be able to defend the title for third consecutive time.

“Athletes will be selected based on performance and anti-doping criteria. The first athlete to cross the line and has met the requirements will be picked while the second athlete will be decided by panel of selectors,” Tuwei said.
