Abel Kipchumba has led a Kenyan 1-5 at the 2021 Valencia Half Marathon.

Kipchumba was fresh from leading a Kenyan podium sweep at the Road To Records in Germany last month where he ran a 58:48 world lead.

Today in Valencia, Kipchumba upset race favorite Rhonex Kipruto to clinch the title after a blistering sprint in the final 600m.

He ran 58:07 while Kipruto, the former world under-20 10,000m champion was two seconds behind. Daniel Mateiko came in third in 58:26.

Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey broke the half marathon world record after running a jaw dropping 62 minutes.
