FKF fines Leopards, Gor Sh10m

AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia have been deducted three points each and fined Sh10 million for boycotting their Football Kenya Federation Premier League match that was scheduled for Saturday over the weekend.

FKF President Nick Mwendwa said Leopards, who were the home team, have been fined Sh6 million while Gor Mahia have been fined Sh4 million.

Speaking on Sunday during a press conference, Mwendwa said Gor’s chairman Ambrose Rachier and his Ingwe counterpart Dan Shikanda have been provisionally suspended until the FKF Disciplinary Committee clears them.

Mwendwa said he was disappointed with the way the two clubs acted over the weekend and will face further sanctions as per the Fifa rules and regulations.

“They can appeal the decision by following the right channel. We have followed the law and we don’t want anything of this sort to happen on Tuesday,” said the football administrator.

“We will not sit here and allow the clubs do what they want. There are rules and we will follow them. In our eyes, all clubs are equal and no one is bigger than the other.” 

The two teams, through a joint communication signed by Dan Shikanda and Ambrose Rachier, claimed they are owed by FKF and as a result, will not honour the Mashemeji Derby match.

The two clubs said they have not been paid the FKF Cup cash prize of Sh3 million.

Mwendwa said they had promised to pay the two clubs their dues by August 5.
