Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir recaptured the men's 800m Diamond League trophy he last won three years ago after clocking 1:44.56 to emerge top in Zurich, Switzerland.

The 26-year-old athlete, who is the sixth-fastest 800m runner of all time, stormed to the front to take an impressive gold ahead of teammate Ferguson Rotich who was leading at the bell.

Korir led a 1-2 finish for Kenya with Rotich coming second after clocking 1:44.96 as Murphy of United States came third with a time off 1:45.21.

His race at the Diamond League also saw him lower the time he ran at the Olympics by almost a second.

Korir won the men's 800m final, also leading a Kenyan 1-2 in 1:45.06 with Rotich clocking 1:45.23.
