Heads are turning to the 2018 Commonwealth Games which are being flagged off today at Brisbane in Australia, bringing 4,500 athletes from 72 countries battling for 275 gold medals.

But besides, not all games will be enjoyed at the Gold Coast Park which will play the pivotal role of hosting the tournaments.

The City Council of Gold Coast has highlighted prohibited ‘sporty’ activities that it will not tolerate at the grounds.

A board said to have been authored City Council has been circulating in the social media. It reads:

The following activities are prohibited within this park: Playing bongo drums, fire twirling and slacklining. While there is no explanation given to back the directive; generally, bongo drums are noisy and could be considered a nuisance in the park.

Fire twirling involves the use of flame to create visual effects but could be considered dangerous. Slacklining is where one walks on tight rope. Also, the city’s administration has quoted certain regulations and penalties guarding the conducts of users of the park.

For instance, local law 9 division 2 referred to says:

“A person must not, unless authorised by a permit, a sign exhibited in the park or a subordinate local law, use a park for the purpose of… lighting an open fire (other than in a designated fireplace); or performing, busking, any public address, or promoting any form of public entertainment; or conducting or taking part in an organised sporting activity of local, State, regional or national significance.” These offences attract various penalties which they refer to as severe.
