Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has congratulated Kenyan athletes for their good show at the ongoing IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China.

Gideon said the athletes have proven to the world that Kenya is a hotbed of talent.

“The rate at which Kenyan athletes are winning medals is proof enough to the world that Kenya stands tall as home of talent,” said the senator.

Gideon singled out Julius Yego and Nicholas Bett who won gold in Javelin and 400m hurdles as representative of Kenyan spirit of determination to break barriers in uncharted paths.

“Who would have thought that we can break those barriers,” Gideon said.

He added that the clean sweep by Kenyan athletes in the 3000m steeplechase cements the country’s unbeaten record in the water and barriers race.

He said Kenyan athletes have brought immense joy and pride to Kenyans wherever they are at global meets.

The senator added that sport has once again united the country at a moment they are facing challenges, and called on all Kenyans to emulate the sportsmens’ undying spirit of succeeding even against all odds.

“The whole world is at a standstill as our sportsmen fly the country’s flag high,” he said.
