A fortnight ago the Luhya Community in the USA and Canada staged a major festival that sought to bring together all Luhyas and their families in what they called the Kenya - Luhya Cultural Festival Extravaganza 2024.

It was a Blazing Night defined by dance and appetite featuring the Litungu Gosepel Vibes Maetro, the Legendary Pst. Timothy Kitui. Popular Tunes form Luhya Land were performed live by the Litungu Gospel Vibes Band with Tantalizing DJ loops.

As touted by the organizers, when it comes to Luhya Music, Dance and Food, everyone is Luhya. The event attracted other communities from Kenya and beyond.

Unlike in the past trends where Luhya nights were characterized by dancing, food and drinking. The Luhya Cultural Festival in USA has evolved into a grand socio-economic movement.

The festival was structured in such a way that it included children with an aim of exposing them to their roots and affording them and opportunity to experience their culture. The festival brought together, established businessmen and women from Luhyaland, professors, investors and other impacting registered groups from Luhyaland.

"We cannot just be gathering to drink and dance, it is time the Luhya community got known for the bigger things that we are doing world over"- said the chairman Mr. Alex Inyagua

Among the landmark projects that were celebrated during this Festival was the Wema Project, a real estate project.

In his performances, Pst Timothy Kitui led crowd to chant "The rhetoric vibe that luhyas make good watchmen, domestic cooks and house helps must die. Our children shall hold positions of influence in the market place and on the world stage!".

The night was indeed full of fun, motivational and eye-opening experience. It was an all Kenyans in USA affair at the Armenian Cultural Center Street Worcester Massachusetts. Luhyas flew in from as far as Canada, Seattle, Atlanta and Pennsylvania.

Here, only two things were required, dancing shoes and appetite. "They deserved a High Voltage Experience, I am glad we delivered exactly that". Pst Kitui said
