‘Hopefully we shall meet again!’ Lukas Podolski thanks Arsenal fans after joining Inter on loan

Lukas Podolski has thanked Arsenal's supporters ahead of leaving the Emirates to join Inter Milan on loan.

The German World Cup winner took to Instagram to leave a message of gratitude alongside a picture of him in a Gunners shirt.

Podolski has struggled for opportunities this season, making just two starts for Arsene Wenger's side in all competitions - none of which have come in the Premier League.

His message read: "I can't express in words my gratitude towards Arsenal fans for all they have done for me in my years in London!

"Please know my heart always holds a place for you.

"I've loved every minute playing for Arsenal & I hope I have left my mark on the club & fans alike.

"Hopefully we shall meet again! COYG."

In November the forward voiced his anguish at his lack of game time, saying: "Of course I am not happy with my situation right now.

"I can't be satisfied with that. It is hard when you can't do what you love."

Podolski has scored 31 goals in 82 appearances for the FA Cup holders since joining in 2012 from German side FC Koln.
