Kenya, Congo to abolish visa restrictions

Kenya and the Republic of the Congo have agreed to remove visa restrictions for their residents.

The move was announced by President William Ruto during a two-day state tour of the country.

In a statement shared by Hussein Mohamed the abolishment is among 18 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that have been signed between the two countries.

According to Mohamed the move will unlock the substantial trade potential between the two nations.

Here is a list of the other MOUs that were signed between the two nations:

  1. Bilateral Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture and Livestock Development
  2. Promotion of Cooperatives
  3. Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Management of Forests
  4. Cooperation in the Fields of Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET)
  5. Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education and Research
  6. Basic Education
  7. Cooperation in the Field of Communication and Media
  8. Posts, Telecommunication and the Digital Economy
  9. Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Sector
  10. Cooperation in the Field of Mining and Geology
  11. Cooperation in the Field of Tourism
  12. Cooperation in the Field of Sports
  13. Cooperation in the Field of Crafts
  14. Cooperation in the Field of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
  15. Political Consultations
  16. Diplomatic Training
  17. MOU between the National School of Administration and Magistracy of the Republic of Congo and the Kenya School of Government (KSG)
