The national women’s volleyball team Malkia Strikers will return to the Olympic stage for the first time in 17 years.

The Paul Bitok-led squad of 12 players includes the likes of Jane Wacu and captain Mercy Moim, two players with a combined experience spanning over two decades. Sadly though, none of these players have played at this stage before.

The squad consists of a blend of old and experienced players, some of who have played at major FIVB competitions like the World Grand Prix, World Championships and World Cup.

The technical bench is led by Bitok, a former international famed for developing volleyball in Rwanda. Others are Japheth Munala and Josp Baraza, two of the top coaches in the country at the moment.

Here is the Malkia Strikers squad that will be going all out in a long hunt for a maiden Olympic victory, in Tokyo.
