Vihiga Queens and Harambee Starlets goalkeeper Lilian Awuor is set to join French top tier club ASJ Soyaux-Charente (Association Sportive Jeunesse de Soyaux Charente), the Kenyan giants have announced.

The new development comes barely a few months after the goalkeeper starred for Vihiga at both the CECAFA club championships in Nairobi and CAF Champions League in Cairo, Egypt.

As per the three-time Kenya Women Premier League champions’ confirmation, Awour, who won the Woman of the Match award against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in Cairo, will depart for Paris on Sunday.

“The Executive Committee of Vihiga Queens Football Club is proud to announce that our goalkeeper Lilian Awuor Onyango is set to travel to France to join ASJ Soyaux-Charente (Association Sportive Jeunesse de Soyaux Charente) commonly known as Soyaux Women Football Club that plays in the French Top Division (Division 1 Féminine),”Vihiga Queens said in a statement.

“Lilian will leave the country on Sunday, January 16, 2022 in the evening and land in Paris, France on the morning of Monday, January 17, 2022.”

The statement continued: “This is just one of the developing interests in our players accruing from our recent participation in the CAF WCL Zonal Qualifiers (CECAFA) and CAF Women’s Champions League in Nairobi, Kenya and Cairo, Egypt respectively.”
