Thika Queens crowned FKF Premier League champions

Thika Queens are the 2014/2015 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women Premier League champions.

Queens achieved the feat after winning their last match against Makolanders 2-0 at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru at the weekend.

Thika Queens won the title after leading the 12- team table standings with 46 points, beating Spedag Ladies from Mombasa by a point to lift the title. 

During the weekend, six matches were played. In the first match, Thika Queens beat Makolanders 2-0, thanks to the goals by Anita Adongo and Catherine Wangechi in the fifth and 25th minutes respectively.

Spedag Ladies, who finished  the league as runners-up with 45 points, edged Oserian Ladies 1-0. Oserian Ladies finished the league in third place with 44 points from 20 matches.

Wadadia Mumias beat Kisumu Leeds 1-0 to finish the league on 29 points, same as Soccer Queens. In their second match, Kisumu Leeds forced a one-all draw against Spedag. Saumu Salim scored for Kisumu Leeds while Miseta Waweru replied for the coastal ladies.

Earlier, Kisumu Leeds had lost 1-0 to Eldoret Falcons with Pauline Amutebi scoring the all-important goal in the 18th minute. Leeds Kisumu are perched in the eighth position with 20 points ahead of Old Is Gold who failed to travel to Nakuru to honour their fixture.

Makolanders had a bad weekend, losing all their two matches against Wadadia Mumias and Thika Queens.

Bertha Omiya scored a brace in the 40th and 50th minutes to give Mumias Wadadia 2-1 win over Makolanders while Christine Asuko replied for Makolanders.

Despite the two loses, Makolanders are placed seventh in the log with 20 points.
