AFC Leopards top management has cast doubt on the future of coach Tom Olaba following the team’s latest loss to Muhoroni Youth during their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) on Saturday.

Club’s vice chairman Walter Onyino confirmed plans are underway to bring in a foreign coach to take over the club and they are discussing what to do with Olaba.

He added Olaba has also been relegated back to his previous position of assistant coach. “I can confirm that in the next two days, we will have a foreign coach to handle Leopards. We cannot sit and watch the club to go down the drain,” he said.

Onyino further claimed the management is concerned that Olaba has failed to manage the players and complained of division in the playing unit. Onyino further claimed the management is concerned the coach has failed to manage the players leading to division in the playing unit.

“We hear players are not working together. We are looking for someone neutral who should work with the playing unit and bring out the positive results,” he added.

Discussions on

He said discussions are on-going on whether to retain Olaba as an assistant coach to ensure unity in the team.

Saturday’s loss was the second in five matches for Leopards. The team also lost to Karuturi Sports 3-2 three weeks ago but bounced back briefly with a 1-0 win over Western Stima.

Olaba has increasingly come under intense pressure following the team’s dismal performance.

But the former national under-17 coach has found it difficult to turn around a club that boasts of some of the country’s best players.

Elsewhere, KCB are back to the top of the KPL standings after stopping Ulinzi Stars 2-0 on Sunday and they seem unrelenting in their quest to prove counters wrong.

Stiill Confident

Though many pundits have termed the clubs ascendancy as a flash in the pan, KCB coach Abdalla Juma remains confident they can maintain their performance till the end.

The bankers are well known to start well every season only to falter as the second leg kicks off and even struggle against relegation.

New comers Home Boyz must go back to the drawing board after they lost their second match at the weekend going down 1-0 to Western Stima at Bukhungu Stadium.

Sofapaka bounced back to winning ways courtesy of a 4-2 victory over Karuturi Sports. Before then, the 2009 KPL champions had remained winless in four straight matches.

John Barasa, last years KPL top scorer finally found the back of the net after a goal drought going into six matches.
