Lake Challa, the rich little known wonder resource at Taveta border

Lake Challa is a rich but underutilised natural resource that is found on the border of Kenya and Tanzania, 8km North of Taveta border town. The local community from the Kenyan side in 2020 started a community-based organisation that takes care of the forest that surrounds the lake on the crater uphill. Besides conservation, the Imbaria Beach Management Unit CBO guides tourists visiting the lake, offers them security. The Kenyan government says it is working towards partnering with the CBO to better conserve the resource and make maximum use of it.
