One problem area is our feet. After basically ignoring them for the past few months, we're suddenly aware of how neglected they might have become.

But pedicures don't come cheap and going down the DIY route can be just as costly and time-consuming.

Luckily, there is a way which is both time and cost-effective - and the answer lies in your kitchen and bathroom cupboards, with Listerine and vinegar.

The Listerine and vinegar foot scrub

While mouthwash seems an unlikely pedicure ingredient, YouTube user Tracy Coffman posted a tutorial demonstrating how a foot soak using the two surprise ingredients acted as a buffer for her feet.

Using a quarter cupful each of Listerine, vinegar and warm water, Tracy recommends leaving your foot in the DIY bath for up to half an hour.

She points out that Listerine contains an ingredient which kills some bacteria, which is probably good news for our feet.

To achieve top results, Tracy also suggests using a foot scrub. But as you can from the after picture, a lot of the hard work has already been done.

How does it work?

The health benefits of vinegar are widespread, and as it contains acetic acid, it acts as an effective chemical exfoliant.

Listerine contains an ingredient called thymol , which is why it's got anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. Plus, as Tracy points out, if we can put it in our mouths, it's probably OK to use on our feet.
