Relationships have always been a part of our human desire. Very few people can confidently say that they are completely okay living this life solo and that is why we spend a lot of time thinking of the kind of person we would want to be with and try to work on ourselves so that we can get the outcomes we want when it comes to dating.

A big topic that we hear a lot about these days is toxic relationships. And because of that, we are advised to analyse signs of control, abuse and narcissism, just to name a few, so that we know what to avoid.

When that is absent in a partner, it is a good indicator that you can have a healthy and wholesome relationship. To be sure of that, you need to pay attention to the signs that tell you that you are with the right person, and five of them are on this list:

You started with the right foundation

There isn’t always a specific way that happy couples meet. In fact, some have met and married within months, and managed to have a healthy bond.

The main thing to look at is the foundation. Relationships that start with infidelity and games rarely progress well in the long run so, if you had a healthy start based on friendship and honesty, that is a good sign.

You can disagree without arguing

A healthy bond doesn’t mean that you need to agree on every single point. As adults, you will have different opinions and perspectives, which is expected.

The only issue is when you find that you’re unable to disagree without fighting. Constant arguments are a disaster waiting to happen. But, if you’re able to communicate in a healthy way even when you’re not on the same page, which is good news.

You make each other better

A bond where you’re both retrogressing is never a good thing. And a relationship where you’re both stagnating can’t really be defined as healthy either because when there is no progress after years, there could be something missing.

You should be each other’s motivation to get healthy, quit toxic habits or even make positive moves in your careers. A relationship where there is positive progress is definitely another good indicator.

You are both putting in the effort

In any relationship, there will be times when the effort will shift from one side to the other. But generally, you should both feel like you’re doing your best to make the relationship work.

So, if you feel like you’re not the only one doing all the work most of the time, you’re with the right person.

It’s boring

This one is a strange sign but in fact, it is an indicator of a healthy relationship. And the main reason why is that there is no unnecessary drama.

People often romanticize chaotic relationships but these are the types of bonds that can damage your mental health. If all you have known is toxic partners, a peaceful relationship will seem boring.

Therefore, if you’re with someone who brings peace into your life, you have a good thing going on.
