Survival of 14 seater Matatus
The public service vehicle industry requires 50 billion shillings for the integrated national transport policy, which aims at phasing out 14 seater Matatus, to be successfully accomplished. According to research by the co-operative college, the initiative exposes the country to massive job losses if not well handled. The report recommends retaining of 14 seater Matatus in rural areas and formalization of Matatu societies to manage the transport sector better.
