Anyone know where Savonlinna is? GoogleMaps claims it is a town in southeastern Finland, where, apparently, folks gather once a year since the Millennium, to see who can throw a mobile phone the farthest! And this year, these Mobilympics saw a local teenager Ere Karjalainen smash the world record (and his phone) by hurling the gadget 101.46 metres. That’s almost two metres longer than Usain Bolt’s preferred distance! This Savonlinna place is not a good study for Kenya’s Communications Commission of Kenya who — in a few short days — want render thousands of cellphones “throwable” by shutting down their lines! Very uneconomical, anti-communication, shields KRA, Kebs and Customs managers who let them into the market in the first place. Whose effigy can the affected Kenyans burn? Any suggestions?
So the London Olypics 2012 cost £9,300,000,000,000 Olympics to host? And that according to the Centre for Economics and Business Research, Games will only see payback beginning 2021? Let’s be honest, there is no point in converting this figure into Kenya Shillings. So anyone mumbling about Kenya’s chances of hosting the Olympics, whether in 2020, 2024, 2028 should be whisked to the Looney Bin to donate his brain to Science.

I think that sometimes, it is hard just being Amos Kimunya. Even if he does not open his mouth, trouble has a way of ferreting him out. Just imagine, those chaps at Boeing Company have raised the selling price of their commercial aircraft by 5.5 per cent, citing higher costs for salaries and services (as if we don’t suffer the same here)! Those are the folks who are supposed to deliver our 787 Dreamliner jets. Order must have been made when Kimunya was either Finance or Transport and Communication minister! Any chance some cheeky fellows could interest Kimunya into cancelling the purchase to save the taxpayer some dough? Just kidding folks. Give the man a break. He is now at Trade.
And finally...
FYI, Mr Jacob Segman, the motorist from last month now says his car is grounded from the Ngong Road contaminated fuel. The KenolKobil “Quick Response” Ladies just gave him the usual PR runaround. Not even a follow-up? Bad mojo for such a big brand!
