For many women, if they were asked to pick just one makeup item for the rest of their lives, they would immediately choose eyelash extensions over lipstick or eyeliner.
And who can blame them? I mean, they look so good especially if you get the best quality the market has to offer.
Another reason to be obsessed over them is because they are so low maintenance and they can easily enhance your look without needing to apply eye makeup which makes them the perfect fit for a glammed up but natural everyday look.
For beginners, it can be a very confusing process to figure out where to start and whether it is something you will like.
The good news is that there is a wealth of information readily available and that said here is everything you need to know about eyelash extensions:

- There are different types
The type of extensions you want will depend on what you are going for. You might be looking for a more natural look with the natural eyelash extensions or planning on going for an event with something more dramatic like the bolder, more voluminous options. You can also find them in different textures like faux-mink or silk.
Before you get them done, you can do some research or even consult a lash technician on which shape, length, width and material would be best for you.
- The cost varies
The amount of money you will spend on getting them installed depends on where you are getting them done. They can cost you anywhere from one thousand shillings all the way to 15 thousand shillings if you go to the more high-end salons, or more.
You should also know that the type of extensions varies in prices so it will depend on these factors.
- Quality is key
Have you seen those videos of people having their extensions removed after getting an infection? I have and it is horrible.
Our eyes and the area around them are very sensitive and it is not a good idea to just get the extensions done shoddily.
You need to check the reviews of where you are planning to have them installed so that you can see if they have some major red flags like using bad adhesive or hygiene issues.
- They can last for months
Eyelash extensions can have you looking glam for weeks or even months at a time. The longevity relies on many factors like the quality of the lashes and adhesive used, how well you take care of them since there are specific after care instructions you need to follow and how active you are.
If you work out a lot, for example, the lashes might not last as long as someone who doesn’t.
There is also an option of going for maintenance session every few weeks to help them last longer.
- They don’t often cause major issues
There are some risks that come with it like bacterial infections, irritations and permanent or temporary alopecia.
These experiences are not that common so extensions are generally safe to use unless you have some underlying eye conditions.
The main thing here is to get them done somewhere reputable and to maintain proper hygiene to prevent any serious problems like an eyelash mite infestation. Yuck!
